Product Description

PUR hot melt adhesive (Polyurethane Reactive Hot Melt Adhesive) is widely used in automotive interiors because it has the advantages of high initial adhesion strength, high and low temperature resistance, heat and humidity resistance, aging resistance, environmental protection and solvent-free. It is particularly suitable for complex automotive working conditions and the diverse needs of interior materials.

Working Principle

PUR hot melt adhesive is a reactive curing hot melt adhesive:

  • First stage: Heated to about 100-140 °C, it melts and is applied to the substrate. After cooling, it quickly develops initial mechanical strength (thermoplastic stage).
  • Second stage: It reacts with moisture in the air or in the substrates, forming a crosslinked polyurethane network and achieving final high strength and chemical resistance (reactive curing stage).
  • This dual curing mechanism combines the fast initial tack of a hot melt with the long-term performance of a structural adhesive.
Features & Advantages
  • Environmental Protection and Health and Safety
    • Low VOC/Odor: Meets the stringent cabin air quality standards of automotive manufacturers.
    • Solvent-Free: With 100% solids content, the curing process reacts only with moisture, resulting in no harmful emissions.
  • Excellent Performance
    • Weather Resistance: No cracking at -40°C, no debonding at 150°C.
    • Bond Strength: Excellent Bonding to metal, plastic (PP/ABS/nylon), and fabric.
  • Production Efficiency and Economy
    • Fast Curing: Fully cures within 8 hours of application, shortening production cycles.
    • Streamlined Equipment: No deodorization or complex post-processing is required, reducing energy consumption by 30%.

FAQ
Q: What is PUR hot melt adhesive?

A: PUR (Polyurethane Reactive) hot melt adhesive is a reactive curing adhesive. It first bonds like a thermoplastic hot melt when cooled, then chemically reacts with ambient moisture to form a crosslinked polyurethane network.

Q: How does PUR hot melt adhesive differ from traditional hot melts?

A: It provides higher heat resistance, durability, and chemical resistance compared to traditional hot melts.

Q: What interior parts commonly use PUR hot melt adhesives?

A: Typical applications include dashboard skins, door panels, headliners, pillar trims, trunk trims, seat decorative parts, and speaker covers.
