Hot Melt PSA Pressure Sensitive Adhesive For Hygiene Products
Hot Melt Pressure Sensitive Adhesive for Hygiene Products (commonly referred to as Hygiene HMPSA) is a specialized class of industrial adhesives formulated specifically for disposable hygiene products, such as baby diapers, feminine sanitary napkins, and adult incontinence products.
This adhesive remains permanently tacky (pressure-sensitive) at room temperature, turns fluid when heated for high-speed application, and rapidly cools to form a strong, durable bond.
Construction Adhesive: Used to laminate the non-woven top sheet, non-woven back sheet or breathable PE film, and the absorbent core (SAP mixed with wood pulp), preventing product delamination.
Elastic Adhesive: Used to secure the elastic spandex threads on leg cuffs and waistbands. It requires extremely high creep resistance to ensure the elastics do not detach or lose tension when stretched.
Positioning & Tape Adhesive: Used to bond side tapes, frontal tapes, or hook-and-loop (magic tape) fasteners.
Positioning/Back Adhesive: Applied to the exterior of the PE film back sheet on sanitary pads or panty liners and covered with release paper. Once the release paper is peeled off, it holds the pad firmly in place on underwear without leaving adhesive residue or damaging the fabric upon removal.
Packaging/Wrap Adhesive: Used to seal the individual protective wrapper film around each pad.
Construction Adhesive: Used for laminating perforated non-woven top sheets, acquisition distribution layers (ADL), absorbent cores, and back sheets.
Shares a similar application logic with baby diapers (construction, elastic, and positioning adhesives). However, due to larger product dimensions and higher absorbency requirements, it demands higher wet strength and superior creep resistance under heavy load/gravity.
Used in medical underpads, surgical gown fluid-barrier laminations, and disposable pet pads for layer lamination and edge sealing.
Q: What is the difference between construction adhesive and positioning adhesive?
A: Construction adhesive is used for permanent bonding of different layers within hygiene products, providing strong adhesion and structural integrity. Positioning adhesive is designed to temporarily hold absorbent cores or other components in place during the manufacturing process before final assembly. Each adhesive is formulated to meet different bonding requirements.
Q: Does the adhesive have odor during processing?
A: No. The product is formulated with low-odor technology to minimize unpleasant smell during manufacturing and improve the working environment.
