Several leading domestic high-end interfacing fabric manufacturers and functional material suppliers have jointly launched a new “High-Performance Interfacing Adhesive Technology Upgrade Initiative,” officially designating phenol yellowing resistant PA hot melt adhesive powder as a key recommended material. The project aims to establish a standardized bonding system for premium interfacing fabrics, enhancing industry performance in durability, environmental compliance, and batch stability.
According to the project committee, phenol yellowing-resistant PA hot melt adhesive powder was highlighted for its outstanding performance in three critical areas:
Traditional hot melt adhesives are prone to yellowing under high-temperature ironing or prolonged sunlight exposure. The new PA adhesive powder features a specialized anti-phenolic yellowing formulation that maintains color stability even during 120–160°C pressing processes, making it ideal for high-end suits, formalwear, and premium garment interlinings.
The new PA adhesive demonstrates significantly improved chemical resistance. It remains securely bonded during dry-cleaning cycles and high-steam treatments, avoiding bubbling or delamination and greatly extending the lifespan of interfacing fabrics.
From wool and polyester to acetate and stretch fabrics, the adhesive forms strong bonds at relatively low pressing temperatures, reducing the risk of fabric thermal damage and expanding its applicability across premium textiles.
A major focus of the joint initiative is the development of “lightweight interfacing.” The stable particle size and reduced melting point variation of phenolic yellowing-resistant PA hot melt adhesive powder produce a softer, more natural bonding effect for thin, premium interlinings.
Industry specialists note that the material contributes to advancements such as:
Improved drape and flexibility
Reduced fabric thickness
Enhanced wearing comfort
Increased breathability in finished garments
These benefits are particularly valuable for luxury womenswear, premium dress shirts, and high-end custom apparel.
Amid global sustainability trends and national carbon goals, phenolic yellowing-resistant PA hot melt adhesive powder is recognized as an eco-friendly bonding material due to its solvent-free formulation, low VOC emissions, and zero added formaldehyde.
Several fashion brands have expressed intentions to prioritize environmentally compliant interlining materials to meet international certifications such as OEKO-TEX® and ZDHC.
Experts believe that while interfacing performance was traditionally improved through weaving and finishing processes, new adhesive materials are now becoming a decisive factor in overall product performance.
Project participants predict that phenol yellowing-resistant PA hot melt adhesive powder is likely to become a standard component in high-end interlining production over the coming years, shaping long-term trends in premium garment supply chains.
